Visa + Tovi Sorga in France

Visa approached Tovi Sorga to design a luxury payment bracelet to gift to 500 VIPs at the global women's football event taking place in Paris, 2019.

Visa payment wearable - contactless payment bracelet by Tovi Sorga

The new 'Rhythm' bracelet Tovi Sorga created for Visa was designed to bring strength, energy and movement to a statement piece. Printed on metallic gold leather using our signature high-definition print, the bracelet has a luxury, jewellery-like quality that also makes it easy to accessorise for a wide range of recipients.

Presented pre-loaded with €50 for each lucky recipient to spend at the event and throughout France, the bracelet can also be topped up by French residents to continue using the payment functionality nationwide.

Each bracelet was printed and crafted in the Tovi Sorga studio, and gifted in bespoke luxury packaging created for the occasion. Directors Tovi Sorga and Agnes Davis were delighted to join Visa for the launch event in Paris, celebrate the initiative, attend the opening match, and learn more about the amazing support Visa has been lending to both women's football and female entrepreneurship globally.

LAUNCH EVENT

Visa's wearables were launched at a beautiful event held at the Musée Jacquemart-André, a less well-known Versailles-like masterpiece of classic French style that's well worth a visit.

This warm celebration was an enriching opportunity to hear more about the importance of women's football globally. Sarai Bareman, Chief Women’s Football Officer at Fifa, gave a moving speech about the 'One Moment Can Change the Game' initiative. Coming herself from a small island community in New Zealand and playing for Samoa on the national stage, she understands the power of football to break down barriers and change lives, no matter where you come from.

Sarai spoke passionately about the need to create opportunities for play within football and all women's sports, and the ways in which key players across the industry - from schools and sports organisations to high-profile advertisers, TV broadcasters and sponsors - need to work together to grow the audience and raise awareness for this amazing game.

It was also a privilege to hear Nadia Nadim talk a bit about her extraordinary journey from refugee to Afghan-Danish professional footballer. This incredible young woman is studying to be a surgeon alongside juggling her footballing career and spreading awareness about the game to refugees globally.

SUPPORTING FEMALE ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The following morning we were invited to share in the final stages of a competition that has been running throughout the past 12 months to offer female entrepreneurs across the globe the opportunity to win $100,000 to support their fintech businesses.

Six exceptional regional finalists from each of the two categories of business and social enterprise gave their final presentations and the grand prizes were awarded. Leading the field in terms of how fintech solutions can help make life easier for people from all walks of life, it was fascinating to hear about the scope of work these twelve amazing women are pioneering. From providing digital business banking solutions and affordable loans in areas where many people can't even open a personal bank account, to enabling young women to sell eco energy to fund their educations, read more about the Everywhere Initiative here.

Finally, we were lucky enough to be invited to watch the opening match of the games - France v. South Korea. Much to the delight of the sold-out stadium, France kicked the games off with a well-deserved 4-0 victory!
